A Walk Through Glenrowan: Nature and Heritage

https://maps.app.goo.gl/kiJSJV23VD7MhcwJ7

The Railway Station garden looking west to the new bridge. The gardens around the station look a bit sad. It’s a pity with the ARTC (Inland Rail) new road bridge precinct that the railway staion gardens did’nt get a make over as well.
A strange fungi in Spring Creek Reserve behind the defunct Scout Hall.

Glenrowan is an interesting small town 15minutes south of Wangaratta just off the Hume Freeway. If you are prepared to spend some time walking around the streets and tracks its amazing what you see.

The old Police Paddock opposite the School is a small block of open eucalypt woodland. The old scout halls are located in the SE corner. This is where we found the fungi and the big grey kangaroo.

Old Silo on the north side of the railway line, privately owned now. Located on siege St.
Glenrowan Station not used. This is a replica of the 1880 station as was used to hold Ned Kelly after he was shot by police prior to his transfer to Melbourne Goal.
Staionmaster’s office I assume, with the station in the background.
The rotting timbers on the old scout shed

New Things

It’s a big structure viewed from below. The road bridge was needed as the old one was not high enough to allow the passage of double decker rail carriages.
